The Pogue Aerator

Grow more grass with less Nitrogen!

Did you know that aeration can release the equivalent of 50 kgs of Nitrogen per Hectare (equal to 1.5 bags of 27% Nitrogen per acre)?

On grassland farms aeration is often the first step in good soil management. It allows very soluble nutrients like iron and sodium to move freely and not build up in soil. By introducing air this will allow the soil life to flourish and release locked up nutrients. A loose open soil will facilitate good root growth and alleviate problems like sod pulling thus encouraging thicker swards and clover.

Our Aerators are robustly constructed and are available in a variety of widths. They are very efficient implements for relieving compaction to deliver the following features and benefits:

Features:

  • Ballast tanks
  • 50mm flange bearings
  • Unique blade support
  • Adjustable rotor to suit soil types
  • Galvanised for long life
  • Back linkage

Benefits:

  • Increased grassland productivity
  • Better utilization of slurry
  • Reduced expenditure on NPK
  • Well aerated soils warm up faster in the spring and recover faster after grazing/cutting
  • A more effective microbial population fixes nitrogen for free and improves the utilisation of applied fertilizers
  • Leys will persist longer with more grazing days per season
  • Poaching and sod pulling are both reduced
  • Increased tolerance to drought
